Snoopy and the Peanuts crew, Winnie the Pooh, Bugs Bunny, Mickey Mouse, and their cartoony compatriots are invading the world, and everybody is welcoming them. These animated television programs and films became so popular in America and in other countries, that the word cartoon came to be widely-used to mean such animated works and animated characters.

It used to be that only young and school children watch cartoons and are fond of cartoon characters like Mickey, Bugs, Sponge Bob, Pooh but this is no longer the case nowadays. Nowadays, teenagers and adults vie with children in getting stuff toys, dolls, and other products featuring their favourite character. Some adults retain their love for their childhood animated friends and continue to watch its animated movies and collect movie items. Other people growing up with cartoons grew to love other forms of the art such as the superhero comics and graphic novels, Japanese anime and manga, and others. While still others, influence by media and by friends, developed an interest in it. The attraction to cartoons has grown to such an extent that some cartoon characters and some movies or television programs have created devoted close following. Some cartoons even achieve cult status and are used to market various other products. Cartoons have endeared itself to us so much that it has become a pleasing addition to our lives.
